The Bears eventually recorded a victory.
On Thursday Night Football, Justin Fields and DJ Moore visited FedExField in Landover, Maryland, determined to lead the Chicago Bears to their first victory of the year.
Fields and Moore hit for a backbreaking 56-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to help the defeat the Washington Commanders 40-20 on the road. They had previously connected for two touchdowns to give the Bears a 24-point lead at the half.
While Moore hauled in eight receptions for 230 yards and three touchdowns, Fields finally air-balled it out for 282 yards and four scores.
On Thursday night, the star pair lost no time in establishing their rapport as Fields completed the Bears’ three-minute opening drive with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Moore.
Fields met Moore again in the end zone for an 11-yard gain early in the second quarter.
To take a dominant (forgive the language) 27-3 lead into halftime, would score on all five of their first-half drives.
When Washington came to within 30-20 with 10:51 left in the game, the Commanders made it interesting. However, Moore was able to catch a jump ball from Fields and score around six minutes later to put an end to any hopes of a wild Washington recovery.
The Bears (1-4) will host the Minnesota Vikings next week thanks to the victory. The Commanders (2-3) noticed their first season-long drop below 500.
